There are a few things:- 1. Cost:- you can compare the cost of the software you are going to purchase or developing customized software for your own purpose (consider cost is one time or monthly/yearly). 2. Features:- You can check the software has all the features available in the software whatever your business need. 3. Interface:- You can check, the interface is user-friendly or not. If all points suits with software then you can purchase otherwise better to develop customized software in which you can add/remove feature what you like or dislike.

It depends on you, if you work on tools, you can do it, but if you want to work on your quality, then you need to develop again.

Whenever you can buy something that helps you develop your end-product faster go for it as long as the tool is flexible enough and easy to use. Build vs Buy is a classic debate and unless the cart software is what differentiates you, buy and take your prodcut to market faster.

Most of the times for startups plugins are useful, you may explore their features and decide if they are helpful else you can do a cost and benefit analysis. Developing a new cart software is always good because you will develop exactly as per need and requirement but it will cost you in time and money, so try to decide on these parameters.
